Brazil is the largest country in South America. It is home to the AMAZON RAINFOREST and is a very popular location for tourism. Brazil is also rich in natural resources and active in the world issues such as climate change, giving it significance on a worldwide scale.
The Amazon Rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, covering over five and a half million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres). Over half of the amazon rainforest is located in Brazil but it is also located in South American countries including Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia and Bolivia.
It is home to around 2 and a half million different insect species as well as over 40 000 plant species. There are also a number of dangerous species living in the Amazon Rainforest such as the DART FROG and the ANACONDA.
The Rio Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro is one of the most famous attractions in Brazil. It attracts thousands of tourists yearly, but it is also a tradition for Brazilians who often spend the year prior to the Carnaval preparing for it.
Football (soccer) is the most popular sport in Brazil with the national team consistently among the best in the world, winning the World Cup a record 5 times at the Maracana Stadium.
