Roald Amundsen and the Journey to the Center of the South Pole
... back to the "EXPLORERS PROJECT"
Roald Amundsen was used to cold weather and snow. He grew up in Norway skiing on the mountains near his home and trekking through the forests. Born July 16, 1872, Roald grew up hearing stories of polar explorers and by the age of 14, he knew that’s what he wanted to do - become a polar explorer. In fact, he did not become just “any” polar explorer; Roald Amundsen was the first polar explorer to reach the South Pole!
