The Pinzon Brothers: The True Nature of Christopher Columbus

... back to the "EXPLORERS PROJECT"

In 1492, he may have sailed the ocean blue, but Christopher Columbus has duped people for centuries into believing he discovered America. Instead the credit should go to two Spanish brothers, the Pinzons. In my opinion, the only reason Columbus is credited with the world-changing discovery is that he wrote a journal about the exploration.

But the real finders of America were the brothers. Why? Well, Columbus approached the brothers to provide ships for his journey after his original fleet was destroyed. The Pinzons, Martin and Francisco, were veteran mariners, helped recruit a crew and navigate to the "New World". They also helped quell a mutiny because Columbus was so unpopular.

They even helped Columbus to get back to Europe, even though he had to cower in his own quarters for the journey home for his own safety after lying to the crew all the time. But after they returned home, the Pinzon family fought out the discovery with Columbus. But because he wrote about his travels, he is the one who has received history's credit. "One thing I learned in politics is that he who controls the paper, controls the discussion!" Let's discuss the real story behind the first trip to the "New World".
